Kevin and Jennifer v Attorney General for the Commonwealth (SY8136/99)

A short excerpt of Hon. Justice Chisholm's findings in the case Kevin & Jennifer v Australian Attorney General, in which Justice Chisholm ordered that a man of transsexual background (post-operative f2m transsexual man) is a man before Australian law, and that the precedent set by the UK decision of Corbett v Corbett barring marriage of post-operative transsexual men & women, which does not represent current medical understandings does not represent Australian law. This case is currently being appealed by the Attorney General, at considerable expense to the Australian taxpayer.
