TGV Objective

The primary objective of Transgender Victoria is to achieve justice, equity and quality health and community service provision for trans and gender diverse (TGD) people, their partners, families and friends.

TGV raise awareness of issues faced by the TGD community through education and training, and we strive to reduce discrimination and abuse for TGD people and their families through improved legislation and acceptance in the wider community.

We work side by side with TGD groups in Victoria and around Australia to campaign State and Federal Governments to remove discrimination and achieve true equity for TGD people and their families.

We strongly support direct assistance to TGD people through establishing and implementing appropriate and high quality direct services, as well as other activities that are consistent with this.

TGV supports the work of service providers who are taking steps to ensure they are TGD aware through education, consultation and advice.

Transgender Victoria welcomes opportunities to discuss potential partnerships with other organisations and groups to achieve these objectives.

Mission

Transgender Victoria (TGV) was founded in the late 1990s to achieve justice, equity and quality health and community service provision for trans and gender diverse (TGD) people, their partners, families and friends.

TGV uses TGD to refer to people whose gender identity or expression is different from that which was assigned at birth or that which is expected of them by society.
